This is me drunk at Oktoberfest haha. If you listen closely, my hostel roommate Keira said I look like a pirate when I drink hahaha! Me and Keira found these people who would let us sit at their table. We shared this table with guys from Luxembourg and this other girl from Germany. They knew the waitress who works at Oktoberfest so I guess you can say me and my hostel roommate lucked out. Also, you are supposed to pay to sit at a reserved table in order to get beer. And the only way to get beer is if you’re sitting at a table, which is why you are advised to come early. So if you ever go to Oktoberfest, get there early! I managed to get into a table the next day, but I came around 6pm and it took so long to get a waitress to take my order so I left Oktoberfest since it wasn’t worth waiting anymore. I was kind of glad too because Oktoberfest beers are expensive! It’s 10 euros…but then again I’m a cheap drunk so it’s all good.

Munich is a pretty cool and friendly city, although architecture isn’t really special. The cool part was seeing practically 50% of people in dirndls and lederhosens. Oktoberfest was a great experience and I am happy to accomplish my goal. If you didnt know, Oktoberfest was the main reason why I booked my Eurotrip. Oktoberfest was like a big Disneyland but with beer. To sum up my Oktoberfest experience, I sang German drinking songs, pounded 2 liters of beer, rode a rollercoaster drunk, and came up with an Oktoberfest hat and sunglasses haha!

But there’s more to Munich than just strong German beer and getting drunk. Checking out the Neuschwanstein castle was one of my favorite experiences in Munich. Plus, I finally had cool hostel roommates that spoke English! Keira girl is from Phoenix, Arizona. She has been traveling for 6 months and has been literally everywhere from Asia, Europe, Africa, etc. She quit her job and planned on traveling for a year. The other girls I stayed with were from Australia and been traveling for 6 weeks. They’ve been to Dubai, Ibiza, Barcelona…practically everywhere too. All of these girls inspired me to travel even more. I want to do the “1 year travel plan”…and I think it’s possible once I get my money saved up.

Anyway, I’m leaving in a bit to my next stop: Bruges, Belgium! During my few days in Munich, here is what I learned:

1. The name of the tents at Oktoberfest are the names of the beer they serve. I stayed at the lowenbrau (lion house), which is the 2nd most popular tent at Oktoberfest.

2. Sleeping Beauty’s castle in the magic kingdom was inspired by the Neuschwanstein castle.

3. I learned German drinking songs..but now forgot it. Haha.

4. King Ludwig II was a homosexual…hence the fairy tale looking castle haha. He made the castle for a Swiss guy named Wagner,

5. McDonalds fries suck here! Ok I vowed not to eat McDonalds in Europe but I had late night munchies and I was sick of eating Turkish food or anything ending in “wurst”.

6. When wrapping the strap of my camera to my wrist, I need to handle with care. Long story short, I dropped my camera lens facing down. I bought a new camera for the same price but the quality isn’t great. Blah!

7. Anything is possible. I’ve met so many people who have travelled alone for months, or people who quit their jobs to travel for a year. If these people can do it, I can do it too! Although I have no plans on quitting my job because I love my job! But my goal is to travel for 6 months to a year before I’m 30.
