This is me being so fascinated with the windmills in Brugge haha. I forgot Belgium was known for windmills!
Brugge is such a small beautiful city! although my morning as well as the hostel sucked, the scenery and beer makes up for it. When I first got into my hostel, I got scared because I was in a mixed dorm again with one girl and the rest with guys and an old man. There were beer cans and stove on the floor so I freaked out and slept with my swiss army knife haha. On top of that the wifi was horrible and slow. And I wasn’t promised the free Belgian beer tasting after eating their expensive restaurant that wasn’t even great! The next morning my key stopped working after I got out of the shower! So I walked outside to the next building to reception but they were closed. And so I waited an hour just to get a new key. So…lesson learned: never book reservations at st. Christophers inn at any European city as I heard other locations are crap. Aside from my crappy morning, I went on a beer tour, watched windmills not move, walked in chocolate stores, and drank beer in public because I can! Here’s what I learned during my short stay in Brugge.
1. Don’t ever book at St. Christopher’s Bauhaus hostel again.
2. It is legal to drink in public in Belgium. However they stop selling alcohol at 11pm.
3. Belgian beer taste best when paired up with cheese because it reaches all the tastebuds (the beer is sweet bitter and sour…and the cheese is salty).
4. The “Strong Henry” beer got it’s name from the first four generations of Henrys of De Halve Maan Brewery
5. There are 20,000 people living in Brugge. The majority of people that you see in Brugge are tourists.
6. Belgian Beer is legit. So is their chocolate. Hands down.
7. Found this Spaghetti joint that was only 4 euros…and it was probably the best meal I’ve had in Europe aside from my appletaart and cappuccino in Amsterdam.
Tomorrow I head to Brussels, Belgium! Its been 2 weeks since I’ve been gone and I started to feel a bit homesick but not as much. I just really miss super carne asada burritos and pho!
